HUDDERSFIELD’S Oliver Townend will be gunning for glory as the world’s eventing elite gather for the Battle of Bramham.

Townend will line up alongside the likes of Piggy French and Laura Collett, as well as Great Britain’s Olympic silver medal trio William Fox-Pitt, Zara Phillips and Nicola Wilson, for the event which starts today.

A field of over 140 riders from 11 countries will compete across three eventing competitions for the Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials title.

The dressage section starts today, while Saturday features The Bramham Classic when the riders will tackle Ian Stark’s cross country course set in Bramham Park.

On Sunday the action switches to the show jumping arena with the TopSpec Arena for the Pairs Relay and the Wetherby Skip Services Grand Prix with a £1,500 first prize.
