THE Huddersfield Table Tennis League’s decision to run open sessions at the Hudawi Centre is proving a success.
Each Wednesday and Thursday evening the Centre’s main hall is turned into a thriving table tennis centre with eight tables in constant use by players of all standards and backgrounds.
Coaching is offered at all times, but structured sessions take place on Thursdays.
Senior coach David Evans has capacity for a few more to join when sessions resume in the New Year and, in particular, is keen to work with youngsters from age eight upwards.
Much of his work supporting Regional coach Sally Shutt is targeted at the young.
In contrast, Evans has also had one-to-one sessions with First Division players anxious to hone their skills.
League president David Wood has not missed a session since it opened in October and is delighted that so many newcomers have appeared and keep returning each week.
For those wanting to shake off the excesses of Christmas, the next session is on Wednesday, January 2 at 7pm.
