GLADIATORS Boxing Academy are to welcome former World champion Nigel Benn to their club next month.

The Linthwaite-based club will welcome the man nicknamed ‘The Dark Destroyer’ as their guest on Saturday, October 20

Benn, now 48, held world titles at both middleweight and super-middleweight winning 42 of his 48 professional fights.

And the club has enjoyed a double boost after joining up on a Club Partnership with Huddersfield Town.

“It is always enjoyable to visit somewhere different and the people at Gladiators Boxing Academy were first class with me,” said Town legend Booth.

“Our Club Partnership scheme isn’t just focused on local football clubs it is about bettering sports clubs within the areas. We will use our links within the community to help Gladiators Boxing Academy.”

Members Gladiators Boxing Academy club will help Town mascot Terry the Terrier during pre-match around the ground as he visits young fans and they will also take part in a number of the Town’s half-time games.
