JIM DERBY claimed the Rastrick Classic title in front of more than 250 spectators at Rastrick BC.

Derby, of Radcliffe, eventually beat Nigel Roper (Pudsey Littlemoor) 21-18 in the final.

On his way to the final he beat Mark Atkinson (Crosland Moor) 21-16, Matt Gilmore (Merseyside) 21-18 and Lee Heaton (St Josephs, Chorley) 21-15.

There were some fantastic performances by both Derby and Roper, with the former seeing out all his close games with some excellent striking at the right time.

Highest break went to Lee Heaton with a run of 12.

The hospitality and bowling complemented each other superbly. The ladies section served hot and cold food throughout while the bar staff were also kept extremely busy.
