KIRKLEES Rebound Trampoline Club fittingly produced some excellentperformances in the Rachael Crowther Memorial Cup.

Ten club members travelled to the Hillsborough Leisure Centre in Sheffield for the competition in memory of Rachael, who was a Kirklees Rebound member until her untimely death 15 years ago, aged 17, due to meningitis and septicaemia.

Kirklees – competing against clubs from all over the country – hit gold thanks to Jacob Wignall in the Under 13 boys section, and they also gook silver in the same category through Bradley Noon.

Annabelle Stott and Neve Davison both competed in the Under 13 girls section – their first ever trampoline competition – and finished 11th and 25th respectively from a total of 33.

Rhiana-Deen Hine also gained a podium place, finishing third in the Under 15 girls section. She teamed up with Laura Hayward, Jessica Bates and Emily Powell to take fourth team place. Individually, the girls finished 20th, 22nd, and 25th respectively from a total of 33.

Debbie Mallinson came out of retirement for a one-off competition and finished a credible fifth in the Over 17 ladies section, with teammate Danielle Howard finishing 17th after a mistake cost her dearly.

Rhiana, Debbie and Danielle went on to compete in the Open Age section and finished 16th, 17th and 18th respectively out of 38 competitors and, together, their team finished in fourth.

In the Synchronised event, Jessica and Laura competed amazingly well together in the Under 15 section, gaining 9.8 out of 10 for their synchronising and finished in sixth.

Rhiana and Danielle also finished sixth in the Over 17 section with Rhiana moving up two age groups to compete.

Previously, three elite members of the club took part in the Welsh International Cup at the National Indoor Athletic Centre in Cardiff, under the watchful eye of coach Barry Peaker.

All three were in the Under 15 girls section against competitors from Britain and Europe.

Rhiana-Deen Hine had a fantastic competition, completing three excellent routines to finish third and take the bronze medal. Her scores also assisted the Yorkshire team to finish a credible fourth out of 16. Jodie Ramsden and Jessica Bates also competed really well, completing new routines with added difficulty and finishing 16th and 24th respectively in a top-quality line-up.

All members train between two and four times a week at Huddersfield Sports Centre. Anyone interested in supporting the club (financially or volunteering) can do so by contacting Jane Bates on 07787 157853.
