Read of Lindley Working Mens A team also scored a break of 37 in the same game, with Scott Lawton and Michael Maude making breaks of 34 and 32 respectively.

Other notable breaks include Ryan Bodsworth’s 30, and Mark Heap’s and Leo Carr’s 28. Mathew Blakely also made a break of 25.

In the Billiards, Brockholes’ Mathew Peaker continued his good form with breaks of 63 and 47, defeating Frank Wrathall of Meltham Liberal, but the Meltham team took the match 2-1.

Rob Armitage of Marsh Liberal A overcame Upper Hopton A’s Stephen Rhodes with the help of a break of 49.

In the same match Upper Hopton’s Steve Holmes lost to Tony O’Hara, despite scoring a break of 35.

In the veterans league, Billy Keenan of Marsh Liberal’s C team scored the highest break of the season with a 36 in his victory over Stuart Charlesworth of New Mill C, in a match won 2-1 by Marsh.

Peter Gilbert of Slaithwaite C & BC made the second highest break in the week’s action with a 27.

Huddersfield kicked off their Yorkshire Snooker League campaign at home to Sheffield 1 and took the match 4-2.

The Hudderssield team of Kevin Baxter, Jack Ellis-Pownall, who was making his debut, and captain Michael Whaley won through.
