LOCAL riders Jacob Scott, Leon Gledhill and Gabriel Cullaigh are off to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow next week for four days of intensive track training and competition.

Labelled The Development World Cup, the competition is a yearly event limited to Olympic Programme members, plus a small group of invited riders who have performed well throughout the season. This is the second year Scott has been invited to participate.

This year there are enough riders to provide more competition in the team sprint discipline. Leon Gledhill, who also participated in last year’s event in Newport, said “I’m really looking forward to this year’s event, there are more sprinters in both the Junior and Youth categories so the competition will be even better.”

Gabz Cullaigh also participated last year and is looking to do well in the Team Pursuit and Madison disciplines, “This year it looks to be another great event with some serious competition from a slightly larger pool of top riders. I can’t wait. It’s a great way to start the Christmas break”

Scott is looking to perform well in all disciplines, he said “Training like this is invaluable and I just love it – it’s a great opportunity to improve your riding and focus.”
