Scott Lawton of Lockwood Con B scored the weeks highest break with a 54 in the Huddersfield Open Snooker League.

Lawton’s 54 helped him secure victory over Bob Stead of Springwood BC A, in a match which Lockwood won 3-1 in the division 1B clash.

Richard Terry of Paddock C & BC B recorded a 42 break, seven better than Jack Ellis-Pownall’s break of 35, but the Meltham Lib B player backed that up with another solid break of 25.

Lower Hopton’s Conrad Norcliffe recorded a break of 34 and John Skidmore also scored 31, matching that of Austin Roddy of Lepton Lib B.

Dean Poutney and Dave Blacker of Lower Hopton and Canalside C repectively, made breaks of 30, but Poutney followed his up with another respectable 27.

Ryan Bodsworth of Lockwood Con A had a 29, as did Darren Woodhouse of Hillhouse & Birkby C and Tony Proctor of Lindley Lib B, the latter following his up with a solid 27.

Andrew Smith of Marsden Con notched up a 27, with Glenn Wilkinson of Meltham Lib E rounding off the high breaks with a 25.

In the Billiards, the talented Matthew Peaker again scored the weeks highest breaks with the Brocklholes BC player scoring 49, 43 and 41. The trio of impressive scores saw Peaker secure victory over Brian Cousen of Lindley Lib, but it was Brockholes’ only win in a match that they lost 2-1.

Martin Wood of Milnsbridge Lib made a break of 38, comfortably better than John Ingleby of Moldgreen Liberal who scored breaks of 37, 34, 32, 28 and 27.

Upper Hopton A’s Stephen Holmes made 35, as did Steve Whitley of New Mill A.

Frank Griffin notched up 33 for Moldgreen Lib, bettering Tim Whitehouse’s 31 for Springwood BC. Peter Booth completed the highest breaks in the billiards matches with a 27 for New Mill A.

In the veterans league, Hillhouse & Birkby’s Clifford Sykes recorded 25 against Noel Byrne of Marsh United BC A, in a game that Hillhouse won 2-1.
