MARK DAW enjoyed success at a cage fight meeting in Leeds.
A student at the Kane Academy in Lockwood, Daw won by trapping his opponent with an anaconda choke in the second minute of the first round of his bout – had the fight gone all the way Daw would have faced two five-minute rounds.
The tournament, called Testing Ground 10, was a semi-pro level mixed martial arts competition where fighters are allowed to punch, knee and kick their opponent to the head while standing, and body shots are permitted if the fight goes to the floor.
Daw trained for the fight by attending the filipino empty-hand kombat, boxing fitness and kickboxing classes at the Academy.
And due to the commitment he put in for his fight, Daw was awarded the Kane Academy’s Student of the Month award, which he received from Rebecca Kane (above).
