BOROUGH of Kirklees swimmers Matthew Hinchliffe and Daniel Cross impressed at the British Gas ASANER Youth & Senior Championships held in Sunderland.

Competing against some of the best swimmers from the North East of England, 18-year-old Hinchliffe took the silver medal in the Open Age Group 100m backstroke event, while 16-year-old teammate Cross took bronze.

To add to the club’s success, Kyle Chisholm, Hannah Pilling, Regen Gregg and James Reidy also achieved qualifying times to swim at this year’s British Gas ASA National Swimming Championships which will be held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield in July.

Although all the finals were Open Age Group many of Borough’s younger swimmers competed and those in action were:

William Garlic (50m freestyle), Alex Fisher (50m backstroke), Daniel Cross (50m, 100m & 200m backstroke), Matthew Hinchliffe (100m & 200m back & 200m freestyle), Hannah Pilling (200m backstroke & 200m & 400m individual medley), Regen Gregg (100m & 200m breaststroke), James Reidy (100m & 200m backstroke, 200m breaststroke& 200m individual medley) and Kyle Chisholm (100m, 200m & 400m freestyle & 100m butterfly).
