Denby Dale trials rider Jack Price has won the FIM Trial World Championship ‘Trial 2’ title.

The teenager confirmed his world champion status on home soil as he won round seven of the series – the English meeting of the campaign at Tong near Bradford.

Involved in motorcycle trials since the age of six, Price made his mark in the youth ranks by winning British and European Championships and has now made an instant impact in the adult classes on the world stage.

The Gas Gas Factory FG Trial Team rider took the fast route to the World Championship with a victory in Saturday’s first round, he got stuck in right from the start and handed in his scorecard with only six penalty points.

He followed that in Sunday’s second round with a second place on 23, just three behind his teammate Dan Peace, and that was enough to secure the title with one meeting of the season remaining.

That final round will be in Italy at Valchiampo on September 3-4.

Price’s Gas Gas Factory FG Trial teammate Jack Peace, younger brother of Dan, also enjoyed an impressive outing at Tong.

The 16-year-old from Kirkbymoorside confirmed his command of the 2016 FIM Trial125 World Cup with two wins at the Bradford venue after confirming the world crown last weekend in Belgium.
