Huddersfield Falcon riders prospered as the Stocksbridge MCC’s Old Bazzola Memorial Trial at Greenmoor survived the ice and snow.

A field of 70 Yorkshire Centre Championship aspirants tried to make a good start in the series and the difficulty of the conditions were not reflected at all in Chris Pearson’s winning ride through the championship sections.

For the Sherco rider dropped three marks in the ninth section at the top of Dead Cow Creek on lap two and that was the only blot on the Pearson run.

His first lap, taking in eight sections up the stream in Dead Cow, was faultless.

The watercourse at Horseshoe Bridge was testing and claimed victims with Gavin Black, Falcon club champion Simon Tyas and Liam Walker all dropping points.

Tyas, back riding his Gas Gas, took the Inter class from Andy Mcloughlan and Peter Sharp, while Daren Wasley salvaged the novice class.

Mirfield’s Andrew Jackson headed the Clubman A class ahead of Hillsborough’s Neil Savage and the top Over 40s rider was Shaun Hoyle, while Mark Timperley got his fourstroke Beta clean from Honda TLR mounted Chris Greenwood and fellow Falcon runner Ian Haigh, who was 10 points down.
