THE Huddersfield Falcon MCC held their Christmas Team Trial with the trio of Ben Robinson, Charlie Smith and Nick Thompson triumphant.

The annual event, held at Horn Hill, attracted 36 riders to New Mill, where the 12 teams consisting of three competitors rode a five lap at eight section trials course.

Each team consisted of competitors in the eight different classes ranging from experts to youths.

New Yorkshire Centre Intermediate champion Ben Robinson and Mark Chippendale set the benchmark by losing just three penalties on the Bill Swallow-devised course.

Chris Manby, William Wood and Nick Eagleton shared overall third place on individual scores but in different classes.

The winning trio were Robinson, novice Thompson and youngster Smith who competed as a Youth Class C rider.

Smith matched his team colleague Thompson on observation scores.

The famed Wooden Spoon award was ‘won’ by the trio of Luke Robinson, Gavin Pilkington and Kevin Thomas.

The next fixture on the Falcon’s calendar is the annual general meeting at The Star, Fenay Bridge, on January 16 (8pm) all are welcome.

The first Club Championship trial will take place at Nethermoor Farm on January 20.
