Huddersfield driver Daniel Lloyd has his sights set on a strong result this coming weekend as the Oman Racing Team arrives at Rockingham Raceway for round three of the 2015 Avon Tyres British GT Championship.

Lloyd, and his British GT teammate Ahmad Al Harthy, are looking to get their championship campaign back on track after a difficult start to the season during the season opener at Oulton Park last month.

With extra points up for grabs, Rockingham’s two-hour contest is set to be a highly fraught battle and the duo are up for the challenge as they look to move up in the championship standings.

Despite showing promising pace in the season’s opening race, the Oman Racing Team Aston was on the receiving end of some robust on track exchanges during the second one hour race and the Vantage GT3 was forced into early retirement resulting from the damage sustained.

“It was a tough start to the season for us at Oulton Park because of the added weight and the restrictor which held us back a lot more that we thought;” said Lloyd.

“That said, the Aston performed well and Ahmad and I are gelling really well together, we just need a bit of luck now!”

Even though the Motorbase-run Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 will be heading into the two hour race with an additional 75kg of ballast on board, Lloyd is hopeful that his race pace and experience alongside that of his partner Al Harthy, will the see the pair challenging at the front of the highly competitive field.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how the Aston goes at Rockingham,” he added.

“The car performed well here last year and we got some encouraging data from testing there last week.

“I like the circuit, I know I go well around there and Ahmad is on good form so I think we’ll be really competitive.

“With more points on offer this weekend, we need this one to count.

“A good result this weekend is vital to helping us get our 2015 campaign off to a strong start.”

Following two free practice sessions in the morning, the first of Saturday’s qualifying sessions starts at 3.35pm with Sunday’s two hour race scheduled to commence at 1.35pm.

Round Three of the British GT Championship will be shown live on Motors TV from 1pm.
