Holmfirth rider Joe Irving powered to victory in the Motul British Motostar M3 class in the British Superbikes at Brands Hatch, outpacing Jordan Weaving to take maximum points.

It was a three-way race throughout the 16 laps between Irving, Weaving and Ryan Saxelby, who was racing in the 125 category.

Irving though managed to pull away from Saxelby, winning by just over a second. Saxelby though, took the full 25 points to lead the 125 category, leaving Weaving in third overall but second in the M3 class with Jayson Uribe completing the podium in the category.

Irving was understandably delighted with how the race went for him and said: “I am really happy with what I managed to do.

“I enjoyed the fight with Jordan Weaving and Ryan Saxelby but while they were battling each other I was able to push ahead.

“The race could not have gone any better and I had a good lead and managed to push away for the win, which is a great start to the year for me.”
