Huddersfield racer Daniel Lloyd aims to battle his way back into the coveted top three in the driver standings ahead of the season finale next month at the Silverstone National Circuit at the weekend.
Fresh from securing his eighth podium of the campaign at Rockingham, where he also claimed his maiden Porsche Carrera Cup GB pole positions after a dominant run in qualifying, the 21-year-old is determined to carry the momentum into rounds 17 and 18.
“I’m really looking forward to Silverstone, we’re going there off the back of our best qualifying of the year from Rockingham, so the aim is to repeat that and try and go for pole again”, said Lloyd.
“If we can start on the front row we should have a great chance of challenging for wins again.
“We definitely need podiums to try and get back in the championship top three, and I’m confident we can.”
With three podiums from the last four races, Lloyd has certainly returned to the sort of form which delivered a memorable victory at Thruxton earlier in the year and triggered a run of four straight rostrum visits mid-season.
Currently just 15 points shy of third position in the title race, his confidence was boosted last time out by his highly impressive career-best showing in qualifying.
If he can replicate that again at Silverstone, the Team Parker Racing driver certainly has a fantastic opportunity to also challenge for his second win of 2013.
Testing at Silverstone takes place tomorrow, with qualifying scheduled for Saturday afternoon with race one on Sunday at 10.20 and race two, which will be screened live on ITV4, starting at 3.15.
