Huddersfield racer Tom Sykes has been praised for his work ethic by perhaps the best person possible – his boss!
Kawasaki Racing Team manager Guim Roda says he is one the happiest people in the World Superbikes Championship paddock after the results delivered so far this year by reigning champion Sykes.
The 28-year-old is well on course to successfully defend the title won in 2013, holding a solid lead after nine rounds.
Roda feels Sykes is doing an outstanding job, and said: “Tom is on the same level or even stronger than last year. He is still building speed upon speed and his lead in the championship proves that.
“He is being very consistent in the races and the results are arriving.
“The racing weekend outcome can change every minute because of all the different things that can happen, but we hope to continue this way until the end of the season.”
Roda reckons that it is Sykes’ attitude and work method that really make the difference and added: “I think it all depends on the confidence that the rider has with his machine and when it’s very high he can bring that extra into his performance.
“Tom is a very smart rider, he knows his limits and this helps him continuing to grow and learn. I think he still has room for improvement and I hope we can continue to work together for many years.”
