The two-time British 125cc champions, who finished last year’s British Superbikes season in seventh place in the National Superstock 600 Championship, is out in South Africa for three races in the Sunshine Superbike series.

It will see Lodge racing on the Aldo Scribante Circuit near Port Elizabeth, Centurion’s Zwartkops Raceway and the Kyalami GP circuit near Johannesburg after he was picked for the trip by former Lepton-based superbike ace Mick Grant.

“I was invited, along with four other young UK riders to compete in the Sunshine Superbike series,” said Lodge.

“It has been organised by the promoters of the series and the UK riders have been selected by former professional racer Mick Grant, so I’m looking forward to getting out there and get some off-season riding done in preparation for my 2013 British championship campaign.

“I will be competing on my 2012 Motobreakers Yamaha R6 again this season, and the trip to South Africa should hopefully be a really good warm-up ahead of testing our 2013 Kawasakis in the UK before the season starts.”
