Huddersfield racing team Doodson Motorsport are looking forward to returning to British Superbike Championship action at the weekend with Robbin Harms raring to go at Assen.

The Danish rider suffered a serious wrist injury at Snetterton in round six of the British Superbikes series but returns in Holland after missing four meetings.

Following the high of scoring his best championship finish with a seventh place, Harms came down to earth with a bang after being taken out by another rider’s crash and smashing his hand and wrist in the process.

Within days Harms underwent surgery to his right wrist which included having substitute bone and metal plates added before returning to Denmark to begin rehabilitation.

“I am looking forward to getting back on the bike again after my injury,” said Harms.

“The wrist is not as good as before and I’m probably going to have to swallow some pain during the weekend.

“But I am confident that it is going to work as I have been training hard to make it strong again”

Team owner Denby Dale’s Tom Tunstall added: “It was a tough break for Robbin and the team in more ways than one as he had proved the speed that we all knew he had.

“We’ve got to be patient and get an understanding of the condition of his wrist.

“However, he scored two strong top ten results last year at Assen and we are confident that he and the Doodson team will be able to improve on his results in the final races this season.”

Looking for a boost at Assen is Holmfirth teenager Joe Irving.

Currently lying third in the Monster Energy Motostar Championship, Irving has just three meetings to make a late push – Silverstone and Brands Hatch hosting the final outings next month.

The last round at Donington Park was a disappointing one for Irving as he dropped out on lap three with mechanical problems on the RS Racing KTM after making a strong start.

“I felt I was on for a win, at Donington but instead I dropped back in the championship,” said Irving. “But now I have nothing to lose in the last three races.”
