DENBY DALE racer Tom Tunstall is hoping that curtailed track time is not going to pose a problem as his Doodson Racing Team prepare for the opening British Superbikes Championship meeting of the season.

The Brands Hatch Indy circuit stages the opening races of the 2013 campaign this weekend and Tunstall is hoping that the team’s new Honda Fireblade model can produce the goods.

While Tunstall will delay his season’s start as the team get a second bike up to scratch, his signing of last season Robbin Harms will be hoping to break into the top ten from the word go.

The Dane joined the team with five meetings remaining of the 2012 season and scored points at Donington Park, Assen, Silverstone and in the final round at Brands Hatch.

And Tunstall is hopeful Harms can impress despite a lack of track time.

“There has been a testing ban imposed apart from running on British tracks,” explained Tunstall.

“Whereas in the past we would have headed to Spain, this time we have been hit by the weather and managed only one testing session at Donington.

“Having said that, it went well and Robbin recorded the eighth best time – so it was a good test to be honest.

“But as usual at this time of year things are just very hectic, and with a new bike we are just trying to get stuff right for the start.”

While Harms is ready for Superbikes action, Tunstall is still weighing up his options.

“What we are working on is giving Robbin the best chance he can have, but also making the team sustainable through the season,” said Tunstall.

“We will have a second bike and I will ride but as yet whether that is in Superbikes or maybe Superstock we will have to see.”
