PREPARATIONS have begun for the 19th Yorkshire Cup.
The Leeds Road Playing Fields event will take place from August 1 to 3 and feature a festival of junior football fun.
Organised by Kirklees Council and EuroSportring with help from various football associations and organisations, the international tournament has attracted foreign teams from Poland, Italy and India, as well as many British and local-area sides.
In last year’s event 44 teams took part featuring more than 600 youngsters.
Age groups comprise Under 11s to Under 15s and during the weekend, a mini soccer tournament, for Under 9s and 10s, will be held again.
In last year’s competition Linthwaite Under 15s and Huddersfield Under 11s both reached finals but were thwarted at the final hurdle by Avro Juniors and Northside A respectively.
