KATY VENTERS smashed her own club records to land gold and silver medals at the North East Region Junior and Senior championships in Middlesbrough.
The Borough of Kirklees star clocked 1-03.84 to win the women’s 100m backstroke and timed 2-13.89 for silver in the 200m (writes Sam Christie).
Matthew Marshall was also in golden form, winning the 50m junior butterfly in 27.21, and he came away with three other medals.
Lewis Dyson set two new club records when winning silver medals in the 400m individual medley (4-42.25) and 400m freestyle (4-05.54).
At 14, he was the youngest male medal winner and also set a third club record in the heats of the 200m freestyle (1-58.40).
Thirteen-year-old Alicia Holdsworth was competing in her first Junior and Senior championships and, despite missing out on the medals, broke a 20-year club record when swimming 2-09.16 in the 200m freestyle.
Alex Garbiak had his best-ever championship meet, returning home with two silver medals and a club record in the backstroke.
Abigail Hirstle was also a first-time medalist, picking up silver and bronze in the sprint 50m freestyle and butterfly respectively.
