SARAH BOK enjoyed success in the English National Badminton Championships, reaching two semi-finals.
The Beaumont Park teenager (above) helped defeat world-class opponents on her way to the last four in the mixed and women’s doubles.
Partnered by Sydney 2000 Olympic bronze Medalist Simon Archer, she helped cause the first upset of the tournament in the mixed, knocking out No3 seeds Dave Lindley and Suzanne Rayappan (world ranking 18) 21-11, 21-17 in the second round.
In the quarter-finals, Bok and Archer defeated world junior mixed doubles silver medalists Chris Adcock and Gabrielle White 23-21, 21-17, 19-21.
The semi-final was a close encounter against No2 seeds and world No9 pairing Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg.
Unfortunately, injury in the previous match hampered Archer’s movement around the court and they narrowly lost 21-6, 21-18.
In the women’s doubles, Bok partnered Liza Smith and cruised past Samantha Ward and Sarah Cousins in the first round 21-15, 21-8.
In the quarter-finals they defeated No4 seeds Mariana Agathangelou and Jessica White 21-10, 21-14, but in the semies they were on the wrong end of a 21-14, 21-11scoreline against Kellogg and Tracy Hallam.
