THERE were several outstanding individual performances when Huddersfield Amateur Swimming Club held their annual gala at the Galpharm Stadium Pool.
None more so than from Hayley Langton, who landed no fewer four titles in the girl’s Under 12 to 16 section at back stroke, butterfly, front crawl and the junior girls’championship, and a second place just for good measure in the breaststroke.
Spare a thought for Beth Knight, who trailed in behind Langton in every event apart from the breaststroke where she gained her revenge, while Chloe Bottomley was third in all five events.
Molly Nicholson was another multi-event winner in the girls’ Under 10s, while Cathryn Powell made a splash in the Ladies Plunge and Ladies Championship and Chantelle Samuels took the honours in the 8 and 9 years breaststroke and back crawl with two awards. For the boys, Lewis Toner was the most successful with wins in three categories, 8/9 years breaststroke and back crawl, plus the Boys Under 10 Championship.
Sam Bradbury had two wins and a couple of rostrum places, while James Hill won the Gent’s Plunge and Championship.
