HARRY NESS has finally been beaten – after 72 games!

His long unbeaten run – which extended throughout last season and into this – was ended at Kingsmith C.

He was defeated by both Oliver Shaw and Alex Beresford, both highly promising youngsters themselves.

Ness recovered to partner Matthew Ellis to a fine doubles victory over the pair, Ellis completing a fine evening with two wins, as did Adrian Wilson to give Shelley A team a narrow 6-4 victory to maintain their unbeaten start to life in Division II.

It’s good to see Sarah Napier back in tenacious action for Scissett WMC B after missing the opening games of the season.

Her colleagues have made a strong start and are leading the Division III table after four matches.

But Kingsmith E are already showing the form which threatens a strong challenge to Scissett for honours in that section.

They were, however, held to a 5-5 draw by veterans Kingsmith 200 in spite of a fine hat trick of wins by their own veteran Steve Cook, who has made a 100% start to the season and, like Sarah, owes much to his dogged determination to win every point.
