Thongsbridge Tennis Club’s trio Dominic Vesely, Alex Tikhonov and Gabriela Lindley, impressed in the G2 National Tour  Scottish Junior Open at the Scotstoun Centre in Glasgow.

Vesely carried his form from his recent wins in the Grade 3 regional tournaments to Glasgow and he qualified from the group stages to the main draw.

The first match against Zac Rhodes, from Devon, proved to be a battle with Vesely coming through 14-12, 8-6.

The quarter-final was a rematch from the LTA Clay Court Championship against DJ Mentiply, from Buckinghamshire. and Vesely gained a comfortable 7-3,7-2 win.

In the semis he faced No1 seed Luca Pow, from Warwickshire, and earned an impressive win 7-4,7-5 against the tournament favourite.

The final proved a step too far and despite a strong effort Vesely lost to the No2 seed Theo Purkiss, from Gloucestershire 7-2, 7-2.

There were other good showings with Tikhonov taking 16th place in the boys draw and Gabriella Lindley was fifth place in the girls draw.

Lindley also has had a run of excellent results in the national tour events taking a third and a seventh, which has secured her place at the National Tour Finals in Bournemouth in August.
