A well-known Huddersfield professional has been recognised as one of the best in the country.
Woodsome Hall’s John Eyre has just returned from Wentworth where he was wined and dined by Pro Shop Europe, the leading monthly golf trade magazine.
John had been nominated and shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Professional of the Year’ award.
At a glittering occasion in the Wentworth ballroom attended by around 200, he waited anxiously to see if he’d clinched top spot. In the end, in the face of extremely tough competition, John took third place.
Afterwards he said: “It was quite overwhelming and unexpected. I am just delighted to be nominated and then to come third.
“It is a nice thank you for all the effort and long hours we put it. It was brilliant.”
He was awarded a certificate, which he will be getting framed to hand in the Woodsome Hall Pro Shop.
John will also feature in next month’s issue of Pro Shop Europe.
