The youngsters from Deighton Leisure Centre are maintaining excellent form at the right time as they continue their challenge for Division III honours in the Huddersfield Table Tennis League.

Cameron Sandhu, Jonathan Heslop and Marcus Matthews, representing the Deighton F team, did not drop a set in beating an experienced U3A side.

They now trail the leaders by 11 sets, but have two matches in hand.

Current leaders Wilshaw Elm had a 7-3 victory over NNRBC A, with father and son combination John and Jonathan Vaughan providing five of the winning sets.

NNRBC A did gain some consolation by overcoming their B team 7-3, with wins for Andy Brooke (2), Daniel Hamer (3), Ross Lander (1) and Brooke and Lander winning the doubles.

Scissett WMC B, currently lying in second position in the table with one match in hand, had a comfortable victory over Golcar Lib B, 8-2.

Wins for Roger Horsley (2), Sarah Napier (3), Neil Womersley (2) and Napier and Womersley in the doubles did the trick. Scott Singleton provided the two consolation sets for the Golcar side.

In Division I, leaders Woodfield Park A were pushed all the way by Kingsmith A before the home side scraped through with a 6-4 victory.

There was a second defeat of the season for Sean Ellis, this time at the hands of Nick Ryder. Wins for Darren Lindley (2) and Ryder (3), plus a doubles victory, sealed the points for Woodfield Park. Sean Ellis (2), Phil Schofield (1) and Steve Hanson (1) responded for Kingsmith.

Marsh Con A continued their fine form this season with a comfortable 9-1 victory over Scissett WMC A, with wins for Tony Stead (3), Ian Tweedale (3) and Bob Sanderson (2).

Russell Senior and Janet Adams, with three wins each and the doubles, enabled Wilshaw Ash to overcome David Browns A 8-2.

In the remaining Division I match played, the points were shared between Deighton Leisure Centre C and Kingsmith Eng C.

Kingsmith PW completely outplayed a weakened Deighton Leisure Centre D team in Division II, with maximum wins for Richard Cowling, Chris Wills and Ian Charlton.

Elsewhere in Division II, Woodfield Park B beat Marsh Con B 6-4, Kingsmith E beat Fountain Of Youth 8-2, Kingsmith D beat Marsh Con D 7-3 and the points were shared between Shelley and Marsh Con C.
