Paul Ingleby, who entered from Lockwood Con but now plays for Lower Hopton, won the Vic Sugden Handicap final at Longwood BC.

A previous winner in 2011, Ingleby beat 24-year-old Robert Craven from Skelmanthorpe 21-17 after the runner-up had two successful strikes to stay in the match before Ingleby secured the last point to get him over the winning line.

Ingleby never looked in trouble in the three games to the final, beating Tom Fowler of Crosland Moor 21-9, Gary Siswick (also of Crosland Moor) 21-12 and Dave Pollard (runner-up in 2012) of Bradley & Colne 21-15.

Craven had a comfortable first round win before squeezing past homester and league secretary Alan Crowther (winner in 2008) 21-18, then beating Peter Kain of Lockwood Con 21-13 in the semi-finals.

The Prizes were again presented by Vic Sugden’s daughters.
