UNDER 9s teams from across Kirklees will be taking part in mini league games on the hallowed Galpharm Stadium turf ahead of tonight’s Super League clash.

From 7pm, teams from Thornhill Trojans, Moldgreen, Underbank Juniors, St Josephs Sharks and Newsome Panthers will be in action, as well as a girl’s Under 13s fixture between at St Josephs Sharks and Castleford Panthers.

On the open-age amateur front, it’s another big week for Slaithwaite Saracens.

Having just triumphed in the Holliday Cup final, the runaway Pennine League Division I leaders now turn their attentions to tomorrow’s President’s Cup semi-final.

But they face the hardest possible task at Premier Division leaders Sharlston Rovers, although Slaithwaite will take some heart from the fact St Joseph’s drew with the title favourites last weekend.

As well as savouring Holliday Cup success, the Saracens second string also secured their best result of the season last time out, beating Division VI leaders Newsome Panthers A 38-4 in their eagerly-awaited home derby clash.

Even with the services of ex-professional Andy Boothroyd, the Panthers had no answer to the Saracens’ attack, with Kyle Wood leading the way with a hat trick, Shaun Mitchell scoring twice and Daine Longmore and Jadon Wood adding one each, and Graham Fryer and Richard Ellis sharing the goals.

Other weekend fixtures are:

Division I: Keighley Town v Emley Moor.

Division II: Moldgreen v Wortley Dragons, Morley Borough v Newsome Panthers.

Division III: Lindley Swifts v Littleborough.

Division IV: Siddal B v Underbank Rangers.

Division V: Meltham All Blacks v Silsden Park Rangers.

Division VI: Emley Moor A v Westgate Wolves, St Joseph’s A v Illingworth A.

Division VII: Underbank A v South Bradford.
