SLAITHWAITE Saracens A are on their way to the Pennine League Division V title!

Their 30-16 victory over second-placed Wibsey A has strengthened the Huddersfield club’s position at the top ahead of the final run-in to the end of the season.

The home side were soon into their stride, with Ben Feehan opening the scoring.

These were followed up with further scores from Liam Tindall, Graham Fryer and Richard Ellis as the Saracens raced into a 24-4 interval lead.

Wibsey rallied strongly at the start of the second half to reduce the deficit to 24-16.

But a superb length-of-the-field Feehan try sealed the outcome in a clash in which Feehan, Tindall and Ryan Small were all in top form.

But it was a different story for Emley Moor’s second string, who were thrashed 60-8 by Wyke A in Division VI.

Injuries again took their toll, with the visitors having to travel with a weakened team of just 13 players.

The situation only got worse as Moor quickly lost three more players to injury, including veteran centre Nick Alderson with a serious bicep injury that has required surgery.

They did, however, still manage two tries through scrum half Taff Barron and impressive second rower Jason Archer, who scored his debut try in a man-of-the-match display.

And the result couldn’t have been in starker contrast to that of fellow Division VI side St Joseph’s, who demolished Illingworth 82-4!
