MOLDGREEN faced a tough tussle when they took on Kellingley Welfare Rangers in Division III of the Under 13 section of the Yorkshire Junior League.

Moldgreen welcomed back James Addy after injury but a first half nightmare set them on their way to a 36-16 defeat.

The Huddersfield outfit spent most of the first half defending and despite the best efforts of Morgan Longley and Marcus Wade, Moldgreen did not threaten the Kellingley line.

After the interval Jack Gill put in some excellent drives, but in the opening period the opposition took full advantage of Moldgreen’s lack of organisation and racked up 28 points without reply in the first half without reply.

The second half started off much the same with Moldgreen doing lots of defending which was saw some try saving tackles, but the team were getting frustrated as they gave away penalties and knock-ons.

But they finally found their form and Marcus Wade, Jonan Samuel, Austin Briggs and Gill all put in some powerful drives and with 10 minutes of the game remaining Addy grabbed two tries after some nice foot work, and Jack Gill scored a superb touchdown – Addy took the conversions and landed two.

Moldgreen’s open age team are currently trying to build a new team to train this summer to play next season and former Giants player Paul Reilly will be coaching the team.
