Newsome Panthers and Lindley Swifts are set to do battle in what promises to be a cracking JJ Conlan Memorial Trophy clash tomorrow.

The fact Championship side Newsome boast home advantage could be a major factor against their First Division rivals.

But with the Swifts having been handed a converted-try start in this handicap competition, the final outcome is even harder to predict.

Gaining the Huddersfield bragging rights is obviously crucial for these arch rivals, although it’s not the only important clash involving the town’s clubs this weekend.

Underbank Rangers and Meltham All Blacks are both at the heart of title scraps and are expected to keep those dreams alive.

Second Division leaders Underbank should remain four points clear of second-placed CK Vikings – who do have two games in hand but have an inferior points difference to Rangers – after their home fixtures with fourth-placed Wyke.

And third-placed Meltham are tipped to remain on the heels of Division VI West leaders Worth Village and second-placed Victoria Rangers A with victory at Cowling Harlequins.

In Championship I West, St Joseph’s will be hoping to climb the table with a win at King Cross Park, while mid-table Division IV team Emley Moor should be too strong at home for struggling West Bowling A.
