SLAITHWAITE Saracens have just completed the perfect fortnight!

After securing their Pennine League Premier Division, they celebrated the fact by defeating Newsome Panthers in the Holliday Cup final on Easter Monday before cruising to a 32-4 home top-flight triumph over mid-table Queensbury.

The home side took the lead after 10 minutes when Damian Kenchington crashed over from close range for Richard Flooks to land the conversion – and Saracens were on their way!

Within minutes Chris Clarke added try No2 and Simon Birkenshaw and Ben Feehan followed up with further scores and Flooks added two more goals to make it 22-0 at the break.

Five minutes into the second-half back-rower Lewis Symonds went in for the visitors.

But this only got the Saracens going again and, just as in the first half, the ball was moved from side to side and only dogged Queensbury defence kept the scoring down.

The hosts still managed to add two further tries, however, with Clarke crossing for his second and Tom Guinan scoring five minutes from the end.

Flooks’ conversion completed a convincing win.

Tickets are still available for Slaithwaite’s ‘Pie With Sky 2’ evening next Monday (from 6.30pm).

The event is back by popular demand, with the Sky TV rugby league team on hand to meet the fans. There will also be an auction of RL memorabilia.

All proceeds will go to Saracens’ junior section and to buy your ticket or for further details, contact either 07889 196450 or 07974 233354.
