IN-FORM St Joseph’s extended their unbeaten Pennine League Premier Division run to four games with a deserved 24-6 triumph over Elland at Fartown.

Strong defence has been the key to Joe’s recent form and this was again evident, with Ben Lewis, James Street and Graham Hyland to the fore.

Joe’s took the lead with a Neil Barrett try following good build-up play, and he then doubled his tally with a fine individual effort which started within the Joe’s own quarter.

Barrett added both the conversions to make it 12-0 at the break.

Any hopes of an Elland comeback were short-lived as winger Richard Aka scored in the corner following good work from Lewis, with Barrett adding the goal.

Elland then hit back with a converted try before Joe’s sealed the win with a try from Dean Bradshaw following a break from Lee St Hilaire.

Barrett again goaled to finish with a 16-point haul and the man-of-the-match award where he was pushed strongly by both St Hilaire and Joe Flaherty.

There was also an encouraging debut from scrum half Gary Taylor.
