HUDDERSFIELD’S two Pennine League Premier Division teams face highly-contrasting home fixtures this weekend.

While St Joseph’s should prove far too strong for bottom club Halifax Irish, who have lost all nine League games this season, it’s a completely different proposition for Slaithwaite Saracens.

The newly-promoted Premier Division side host leaders Queen’s, who many are already tipping as the champions-in-waiting, particularly after their 16-8 home win over current champions Drighlington six days ago.

Another side facing a stiff challenge tomorrow are Emley Moor, who entertain second-placed Clayton in Division I West.

But after last week’s 34-10 triumph at West Bowling A, Moor certainly won’t be lacking in confidence.

Unfortunately, Newsome Panthers’ confidence took a blow last weekend when they were beaten 16-8 at Brighouse Rangers and lost top spot in Division II in the process.

As a result, they will be looking to bounce back at home to mid-table Crigglestone All Blacks, who could, in fact, turn out to be a major title contender as they’ve played only four League games so far this season but have won the lot.

Lindley Swifts favoured far better in their last Second Division outing as they won 18-8 at home to Keighley Town, but they don’t need telling after last week’s events that tomorrow’s hosts Brighouse are a side that will pose a genuine threat!

Underbank Rangers’ Division IV title hopes were hit with their defeat at Elland A a week ago, but they have a great chance to bounce back when they take on Drighlington A at The Cross.

While Division V leaders Slaithwaite A have a weekend off, both of their Huddersfield rivals are on the road.

And Meltham All Blacks could do themselves and the Saracens a massive favour if they could win at second-placed Wibsey Warriors A, while Newsome A travel to struggling Burley Lions.

Second-placed St Joseph’s continue their bid for Division VI title glory with a trip to Clayton A and Emley Moor A are at Cowling Harlequins.

Moldgreen will look to move closer to the Division VII title with a win at bottom club South Bradford, while Underbank A travel to Selby Warriors A.
