BRIGHOUSE High Sixth Form student Tom Garratt has been selected to play for England Colleges Rugby League Under 19s.
Garratt, who plays at prop for Siddal first team in the National Conference Premier League, was originally picked in a squad of 30 after captaining Yorkshire Colleges to victory in the final of the Regional Championships in May, where he was the tournament’s leading try scorer.
A gifted guitarist and singer-songwriter, Garratt (pictured) has been studying A-levels in music, PE and biology at the sixth form college.
He is hoping to go to Salford University in September to study music production.
This month, Garratt attended an England squad training session at Nottingham University when numbers were trimmed to 22.
Last weekend he made his debut when the England Colleges team beat The RL Regional Academies Select 32-16 at Castleford Panthers.
The team will meet up again on August 14 in Rochdale and, the following day, will play against Scotland Colleges Under 19s as the curtain raiser to the Rochdale Hornets v Oldham RLFC game in the Kingstone Press Championship I at Spotland (live on Premier Sports).
