THE Championship showdown at Bramall Lane tonight promises to be a big game for Sheffield Eagles half back Dominic Brambani as he prepares to face his former club Halifax.

The 28-year-old is set to make his 100th appearance for Sheffield in the key clash that pits the third-placed Eagles against top-of-the-table Halifax.

The Bradford-born player, in his second spell with the Eagles, said: “I was at Halifax back in 2006 and there is always that thing at the back of your mind that you want to beat your former club.

“It is going to be a good contest because we have found a bit of form now.

“Making 100 is a big achievement for me, I’m enjoying my time at Sheffield and I’m looking forward to facing Halifax – it’s a big game for the clubs.”

Halifax are to be boosted for the game with the return of former Hull KR playmaker Scott Murrell, who missed last week’s Northern Rail Cup exit at the hands of Dewsbury Rams.

Also in the running for possible comebacks are utility back Anthony Bowman and former Huddersfield forward Iain Morrison (right).

Halifax head coach Karl Harrison will also be pleased that goalkicking three-quarter Mick Nanyn returned to action scoring a try and five goals in an Under 20 outing against his former club Leigh – though having played just two games in 18 months he is not expected to feature against the Eagles.
