HALIFAX RLFC remained top of the Kingstone Press Championship after blasting Doncaster out of the water in the first half to notch a 34-16 win at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Head coach Karl Harrison’s men were never in trouble once Ste Tyrer had gone over for an early try to which he added the goal.

The former Widnes centre proved the inspiration for a Fax side hungry to score points.

Tyrer had bagged himself 14 points by half-time with a second try, while taking his goal tally to five as touchdowns were scored by winger Rob Worrincy, making his first start of the season after injury, Sam Barlow, Karl Ashall and scrum half Anthony Thackery.

However, the second half saw the balance switch with the home side taking control of the contest after second rower Chris Spurr crossed and Paul Cooke added the goal.

Cooke added another goal as Doncaster grabbed two more tries with winger Ben Blackmore, on loan from Huddersfield Giants, and prop Brett Waller both got over the line.
