THE Pennine League tables make happy reading for a number of Huddersfield clubs right now.
Slaithwaite Saracens are top of the Premier Division, Newsome Panthers are third in Division I, Emley Moor are second in the Second Division, and Slaithwaite A are third in Division V, with Meltham All Blacks just one place below on points difference.
And there’s no reason why the good times can’t continue, with the clubs all facing favourable fixtures this weekend.
In-form Slaithwaite Saracens were in explosive form as they won 60-16 at former leaders Queens last weekend.
As a result, confidence among player-coach Ritchie Hawkyard’s squad is sky-high and they’ll be relishing tomorrow’s home clash against Halifax Irish.
Arguably the toughest challenge of the day is being faced by the Panthers, whose title credentials will be tested to the full when they travel to second-placed Burley Lions.
Emley Moor made it six wins from seven starts with last week’s win at mid-table Brotherton Bulldogs and victory No7 should be achieved at struggling Dodworth.
At the same time, fellow Second Division side Underbank Rangers will also be in high spirits as they prepare for their Brotherton trip after they chalked up their second win of the season a week ago by thrashing West Craven Warriors 64-6.
In Division V, Saracens’ second string should secure their six success at struggling Hollinwood, while the All Blacks will be disappointed if they don’t win at mid-table Burley Lions.
Also in Fifth Division action are Newsome A, who face a mid-table battle at home to Whinmoor.
