EMLEY Moor are ready to face another big test in their bid to secure the Pennine League Second Division title.

Just a week after beating Newsome Panthers 19-14 in their top-of-the-table derby clash, coach Pete Southwell’s side now face another big test at fourth-placed Calder Valley.

Their hosts have made a solid start to the campaign, with five wins from their opening seven League encounters and, if Moor can win again tomorrow, it will put Emley in an even stronger position at the top of the table.

Newsome will obviously want to say something about that, and they will be determined to bounce back from their Emley setback with a home win over Thornhill Trojans A.

Another side desperate to respond positively to a major setback are Third Division Lindley Swifts.

A week ago they were narrowly beaten 8-4 in their top-of-the-table home clash against Bank Top Harriers.

But tomorrow they can help erase some of those bitter memories with a home success over Undercliffe.

At the same time, Slaithwaite Saracens face the daunting task of locking horns with Bank Top Harriers, although this time the Huddersfield team are conceding home advantage.

However, if the Saracens can pull off the win, it would put them in an excellent position to push on for the title.

Underbank Rangers were looking in a healthy position to mount a Division IV title bid – until their 44-22 defeat at second-placed Dudley Hill A.

That was Rangers’ second defeat of the season, with hopes now they can bounce back with a win at Thornton.

Meltham All Blacks, meanwhile, beat Thornton 7-6 last weekend and will be hoping to back that up with another triumph at fellow mid-table team Queensbury A.

In Division V, Moldgreen A host West Leeds, while Division VI side St Joseph’s travel to Grimethorpe and Slaithwaite A entertain Guiseley A in Division VII.

The dates for this season’s Holliday Cup ties have now been confirmed.

First-round matches will take place on Saturday, December 8, with the semi-finals on Saturday, January 26, 2008.

The final is, as always, on Easter Monday (March 24) at Lockwood Park, kicking-off at 11am.
