MOST of the weekend junior rugby league was postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

But several matches did survive the weather, including the derby clash between the Under 11s from Slaithwaite Saracens and Lindley Swifts at Longwood Edge.

It was a match dominated by the unbeaten Saracens, who stormed to a 40-0 victory.

Tries were scored by Jamie Kelly (2), Ben Dickinson (2), Slava Kiseev, Brandon Sanderson and Rowan White.

Conversions were added by joint men-of-the-match Robert Dowling and Sanderson, Dickinson, Kiseev, Thomas England, White and opposition man-of-the-match Kelly.

Top tackler was Dickinson, while Oliver Whitaker also played well in a top team performance, much to the delight of coach Michelle Wood and assistant Lee Rathmell.

Meltham All Blacks Under 12s conceded home advantage to Elland because of a waterlogged pitch at the Recreation Ground.

But that made no difference as they secured an excellent 16-6 victory.

Top tacklers Sam Rochford, Toby King, Jebel Ceesay and Jack Thompson were the dominant defensive forces, while George King and Daniel Hirst were effective on attack.

Man-of-the-match King scored twice and Michael Holmes added another.

There were defeats for Underbank's Under 16s and Under 12s, while the Academy's game against Stanningley had to be abandoned as conditions deteriorated rapidly.

The Under 12s were narrowly beaten 22-20 by Littleborough.

Their tries came from Liam Ascough (2) and Oliver Moorhouse, with a late Littleborough rally proving decisive.

"We failed to do the simple things right in the last five minutes and it is a lesson to be learned for Sunday when we visit Slaithwaite in the Huddersfield Cup," said coach Dave Berry.

There was a disappointing defeat for the Under 12s as they lost 40-4 at Sheffield Hillsborough Hawks.

Their only points came from a Morgan Ettienne try, while Dominic Horn was man-of-the-match.

And before the Academy match became a victim of the weather, they scored tries through Ross White and Francis Entressengle, with Jamie Nagle converting both and Chris Longley being named man-of-the-match.
