PATIENCE has paid off for St Joseph’s Under 16 girls as they finally scored a win over Castleford Panthers – after two years!

A combined St Joseph Sharks and Queensbury side took on old adversaries Castleford Panthers at Stanningley and were 16-12 winners.

St Joes made a great start when centre Jenny Doughty scored out wide after some quick passing.

CastlefordŠsoon fought backŠto level the scores, but the St Josephs and QueensburyŠcombination was beginning to click.

Again smart handling enabled Amy Plowman to power over the line for the second try, this time the converted, to put Joes back in front.

Nearing the end of the half CastlefordŠscored another try, but were unable to convert leaving the score 10-8Što St Josephs and Queensbury at half-time.

In the second half the St Joseph’s and Queensbury side started to gel and their quick handling saw Lucy Eastwood run through the Castleford defence, motoring up the park and feeding teammate Emily Wilson to score out wide.Š

The try was converted again and though Castleford replied, they were unable to convert and St Josephs and Queensbury claimed victory.
