LINDLEY SWIFTS have pulled off a memorable victory.

Their Pennine League Division III fixture at Selby had all the making of a demanding mission, with their hosts unbeaten at home for three years.

But the Swifts made a mockery of the statistic as they stormed to a highly impressive 58-10 triumph.

It was a sign of the growing confidence of the side, with coaching staff John Beckett, Lance Gilbert, Ritchie Bower and Shane Whitaker able to pick from a virtual full-strength squad.

A lightning start to the contest laid the foundations for the win, with the Swifts already out of sight at the break at 30-4.

In a devastating opening 40 minutes, Nick Turner, Nick Staples (2), Bower and Mark Burns all crossed for tries, with Turner adding the conversions.

By that stage, the Warriors were down to 12 men after their player-coach kicked out at second-rower Staples just before the break.

And, as a result, there was little change to proceedings in the second half, with Mark Burns completing his hat trick and Ashley North, Olly Brodzinski, James Burns and Stephen Brook all crossing for further scores.

The successful contest also marked the debut of former Huddersfield player Gavin Beaumont.

But there was also a major negative, with Gary Jackson having to leave the field after suffering a broken jaw in an altercation involving several players.
