UNDERBANK Rangers were in uncompromising mood as they beat Kippax Knights 62-44.

The National Co-operative Conference III title holders put in a real champions’ performance at The Cross as they ran in 11 tries to notch their sixth straight win.

Last month’s clash between the two sides proved a tight affair, but Jayden Covell-Woods’ interception from inside his own half proved to be a sign of things to come as he raced clear to open the scoring after eight minutes.

Jay Senior then weaved between the Kippax defence and Rangers made it three tries before the half hour with a similar effort to their first, Covell-Wood profiting from another Kippax loose pass and racing 20 metres before releasing Alex Chatterton to go over.

Knight’s Daniel Monaghan ensured his side did not end the half empty handed by crashing over after some neat play, in which he ball worked swiftly from right to left, caught the home defence unawares.

However, the floodgates opened after the break as Dave Pawson outpaced the Kippax defence to score.

Then Senior’s quick feet allowed him to escape two tackles and scoot 50 metres to extend the lead.

Individual magic saw Courtney Allette chip the ball over the defence on the last tackle and re-gather to finish clinically in the corner.

Then Adam Ryder and Nick Briggs proved too powerful as they brushed through tackles to score.

Rangers kept up the pressure and Kris Harrop raced clear after selling a dummy to his opposite number and Rob Joyce got in on the action before Chatterton touched down for his second.

Neil Barrett kicked 18 points.
