THE weather stepped in to make it a weekend of frustration on the Huddersfield amateur rugby league front.

The biggest disappointment was the fact both Holliday Cup semi-finals failed to take place.

Meltham All Blacks’ home tie with Emley Moor was called off towards the end of last week, due to the hosts’ crippling injury list.

But heavy frost then meant the Newsome Panthers’ v Slaithwaite Saracens clash had to be postponed on Saturday morning. New dates have yet to be announced.

Matches for Lindley Swifts and Underbank A also fell victim to the weather, while many of those sides whose games went ahead will have wished they hadn’t!

In the Championship Division, St Joseph’s suffered the agony of a narrow 7-6 home defeat at the hands of New Earswick All Blacks.

At the same time, Second Division Underbank went down 36-10 at Dodworth.

Newsome A lost 30-20 at Eastmoor A in Division V, but Slaithwaite did win 44-4 at home to Hollinwood.
