Halifax’s rugby league team has parted company with coach Karl Harrison.

The club announced yesterday that Harrison and his assistant, Lee Greenwood, had left with immediate affect.

A statement said: “In the context of current difficulties within the club, for which they have no responsibility, the directors have agreed with Karl that his three year contract should not be renewed.”

Fax chairman Michael Steele, paid tribute to the departing manager.

“Karl Harrison is an outstanding man, who has served this club with distinction on the field, as a member of its Hall of Fame, and as coach,” he said.

“His period in charge will particularly be remembered for the Northern Rail Cup win in 2012. His achievements with the limited resources at his disposal have been exceptional.”

Veteran player Scott Murrell will take control for the club’s last Championship game of the regular season against Barrow this weekend.
