Huddersfield Giants coach Paul Anderson played a leading role in his side’s success – inspiring victory on the cricket field.

The Giants held a Twenty20 Funday at Lascelles Hall cricket club and all the proceeds from the day went towards the Side by Side campaign which raises funds for the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Trust, the Yorkshire Gunners, Royal Artillery Charitable Fund and the Giants Talentbuilder Programme.

On the field of play a Giants XI took on a Side by Side military team.

The Giants included Anderson, Stuart Fielden, former players Paul Reilly and Jeff Wittenberg, Kruise Leeming, Ben Blackmore, Ukuma Ta’ai, Jake Connor and competition winner James Atherton.

Head coach Anderson led from the front with an impressive 33 as the Giants set a total of 149 for the military team to beat, but they fell a way short as the Giants took the spoils.

Giants marketing manager James Brammer was delighted with the turnout on the day and said: “Sunday was a fantastic event and an ideal way for our loyal supporters to meet the Giants first team squad in a relaxed, family friendly environment.

“A huge thank you must go to everyone who helped make the day a great success – especially the Giants fans and volunteers, Hinchliffe’s Farm Shop and Restaurant, Yummy Yorkshire ice cream, the Lascelles Hall cricket club, the Yorkshire Regiment and the Yorkshire Gunners.”
