Huddersfield Giants chief Paul Anderson has praised the way his side responded to their opening-day defeat to Hull to come so close to toppling Wigan at the DW Stadium.

Huddersfield followed up last week’s 19-0 loss with a 24-16 defeat to the Warriors last night.

But such was the improvement between the two performances that it only looks a matter of time before the Giants break their duck.

“I thought we turned up to play last night,” said Anderson.“There was a lot more fluency in the way we played, and had it not been for a lack of composure at key times and the fact a few things went against us, then it could have been a totally different story.

“We bombed a couple of chances when we were in front, and if those had stuck then we would have been out of sight.

“After last week’s defeat we spoke about commitment and the way we had to respond to what went on that day.“I though our response was exactly what we had been looking for.”
