Huddersfield Giants' captain Danny Brough has had a season to remember.

But even he was "gobsmacked" when he was named as the winner of the prestigious Super League Man of Steel award.

The Huddersfield captain lifted the top prize after being adjudged to have made the biggest impact on Super League in 2013 - completing a hat-trick of awards for his record breaking season.

After a string of impressive displays, the 30-year-old was handed the Albert Goldthorpe Medal for the second time - a week after being named as the Rugby League Writers’ Association player of the year.

Brough was the inaugural Goldthorpe winner in 2008, when he played for Wakefield.

And in another coup for the newly-crowned Super League minor champions, Huddersfield were named the Albert Goldthorpe Team of the Year for finishing top of the table.

The Dewsbury-born fans' favourite, who guided the Giants to their first top-table finish for 81 years and to within 80 minutes of a maiden Grand-Final, broke Ben Gronow’s club record of 147 goals, which had stood for 93 years and smashed Pat Devery’s record for points in a season set in 1953.

Huddersfield also completed a notable double when Paul Anderson was named as Super League Coach of the Year in his first full season in the job.
